A ‘one-stop-shop’ waterproofing solution installed across the entire structure of this exclusive project. Located on the site of the old Bowater House in Knightsbridge, this esteemed development was dubbed ‘the most luxurious address in London’.

The challenge

To provide a comprehensive waterproofing system as a change to the original specification, in order to expedite the build process.

The Xypex solution

The contractors selected Xypex Admix as soon as they had won this project for the majority of the structure, as it was able to speed up production processes and simplify the waterproofing solution.

Top down construction was utilised due to the nature of the project and so Xypex was initially used in the podium deck to waterproof and protect the work being undertaken below. As a permanent solution that becomes an integral part of the substrate, Xypex was used within the concrete roof of each tower. Additional basement areas including lift cores, three-level basement slab and wall areas, have all been treated with Xypex waterproofing products.

Due to the simplicity of the Xypex system it was used as admix within traditionally cast concrete and post tensioned concrete. Xypex Concentrate and Patch’n Plug were used as a remedial solution to areas of the adjacent existing structure that required a solution to stop water flow.

Prior to hand over additional attenuation tanks were required within the basement. These were designed to BS:8110 and made watertight with Xypex Admix.

The Results

Xypex provided an effective waterproofing solution for this top-down construction, enabling building works to be carried out uncompromised by water-ingress and ensuring a quick and efficient build process.
