Got a waterproofing challenge?
Get in touchWaterproofing for a basement car park within a mixed-use development in Hertfordshire, comprising residential property and under-cover retail space.
To effectively waterproof the entire basement car park of a commercial and residential development where the piles had been designed to be left ‘fair face’. This required that both male and female piles be totally watertight.
Xypex Admix was specified for the concrete piled wall to create a complete waterproof barrier prior to the soil being excavated. The slab was poured using Xypex Admix and was jointed in to the piled wall, creating an integrated waterproofing system.
Xypex was also used in the remedial treatment of concrete underneath the external walkway, between the residential flats, which had developed cracks. The standard Xypex crack / joint repair, utilising Xypex Concentrate and Patch’n Plug, was used for this.
Xypex Admix C Series – Piles and car park slab
Xypex Concentrate – Joints and repairs to non Xypex Admix Concrete
Xypex Patch’n Plug – Repairs to non-Xypex treated concrete
Hydroswell Bentostrip – Day joints
The crystalline structure that Xypex creates integrally within the concrete meant that the engineers had confidence that the fair face pile design would be fully protected from water ingress, without the use if a liner wall against the piles.
The contractors were so impressed by the diversity of applications of Xypex that they extended the specification to include remedial waterproofing for a walkway that had been compromised by cracking and susceptible to water ingress.
